About the project

65 McKenzie Street is set to become one of the first community housing projects in regional Australia to use 3D printed construction. The development will deliver 12 high quality home, 10 one-bedroom units and 2 family dwellings, on an abandoned construction site near Lismore Base Hospital. This project represents a bold innovation in construction delivery, with potential to transform how social and affordable housing is built. It is likely to be a national first for the community housing sector. ATI worked closely with Social Futures to shift the delivery model from traditional modular to 3D printed construction, bringing in specialist suppliers, testing feasibility, and aligning investor confidence with an ambitious new build methodology.

ATI’s role

ATI led the strategy pivot toward 3D printing, managed technical due diligence, secured stakeholder buy-in, and is now coordinating approvals, procurement, and end-to-end delivery. We are also managing regulatory and funding assurance as part of the rollout of this new method.

Client value

ATI has enabled Social Futures to take a major step forward in construction innovation, delivering not just housing, but a proof of concept that could shift the dial for social infrastructure delivery in regional Australia.
