About the project

Headspace Ballina is a vital youth mental health service hub, delivered through the refurbishment of a highly visible but previously neglected commercial tenancy on River Street. When ATI was engaged, the project was significantly delayed and facing escalating costs, with design coordination and stakeholder alignment unresolved. We led a full project reset, rescoping the interior fitout, resolving compliance gaps, and bringing the delivery program back on track. In addition to delivering a safe, welcoming, and youth-friendly interior, ATI coordinated extensive exterior works to revitalise the building’s facade, entrance, and landscaping. The transformation is dramatic: from near-dilapidated to vibrant community asset.

ATI’s role

ATI took over project management at a critical point, resolving delays and cost issues, redesigning the fitout for operational readiness, and overseeing a full exterior upgrade. We managed approvals, contractor engagement, and delivery across both internal and external scopes.

Client value

ATI provided the leadership and delivery expertise to rescue a struggling project and turn it into a high-quality clinical and community space, restoring confidence, lifting the building’s street presence, and creating a fit-for-purpose centre for Ballina’s young people.
